Scott Atchley

HPC Systems Engineer, Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Scott Atchley joined ORNL in 2011 as a HPC Systems Engineer. He works on networking and core specialization projects. He works on the open-source, network abstraction layer, the Common Communication Interface (CCI) project. Scott has helped refine the API and worked on many of the underlying transports. He is also working on the addition of wide-area, heterogeneous routing. Scott also works on Functional Partitioning, which seeks to provide distributed services on large, many-core machines to improve performance and reliability. Prior to joining ORNL, Scott worked at Myricom, where his projects included MPICH2-MX, BMI-MX (PVFS2 over MX), MXLND (Lustre over MX), and other projects. Scott had also worked in the Logistical Computing and Internetworking Lab (LoCI) at the University of Tennessee where he focused on distributed storage over the wide-area. Scott received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1987 and a M.S. in Computer Science in 2002, both from the University of Tennessee.
