Prof. John Goodacre holds a full Professorship in Computer Architectures in the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester while maintaining his Director of Technology and Systems position in the Research Group at ARM Ltd. He also recently co-founded a company building web-scale server technologies, Kaleao Limited, and acts as their Chief Scientific Officer. His career has included the realization of the first scalable commodity telephony platform, the introduction of the first real-time collaboration tools shipped in Microsoft in Exchange 2000, while more recently was responsible for the design and introduction of the ARM MPCore multicore processor and associated technologies now used by billions of devices worldwide. His roles today extend across both academic and industrial research topics, focused around exascale efficient computing systems and ubiquitous computing paradigms while also driving forwards the technological vision for the Kaleao system's roadmap. This gives him a unique hardware and software background, with experience from embedded devices to the largest of big data and HPC systems. He participates in various advisory boards at both national and European level and is a frequent conference speaker.
