JUNE 18–22, 2017
FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Kempf

Professor at the University Duisburg-Essen and Head of the chair "Fluid dynamics"

Andreas Kempf holds the chair of Fluid Dynamics at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Darmstadt University and graduated from with a PhD on the Large-Eddy Simulation of Non-Premixed Combustion in 2003. After a one year post-doctorate, he joined Imperial College London as an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) to develop new models, methods and programmes for the simulation of turbulent reacting flows. In 2011, he left Imperial for Duisburg-Essen, where he is a member of the board of the Center for Computational Sciences and Simulation and of the Center for Nano-Integration CENIDE. He is part of the editorial boards of three international journals, of the compute time allocation panel in Jülich and has lead the application for the university's new Top-500 computer MagnitUDE. He is the original developer of the PsiPhi code for Direct Numerical Simulation and Large-Eddy Simulation of multiphase flows with moving boundaries, chemical reaction and radiation, efficiently using 10,000 to over 100,000 thousand cores on a regular basis.
