Jan E. Odegard is the Executive Director of the Ken Kennedy Institute and Associate VP, Office of Information Technology at Rice University. Odegard manages research partnerships and cyberinfrastructure and has organized a conference in Houston on HPC in Oil & Gas that brings together the oil & gas industry, the IT industry, and academia, focused on bridging computational researchers, petroleum producers, HPC vendors, and students. Prior to 2002, Odegard was associate professor and department chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Stavanger, Norway. Odegard received his Ph.D. (1996) in electrical and computer engineering from Rice University, and his MSc (1990) and B.S. (1987) in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.
