Prof. Dr. Anne C. Elster

Dr. Anne C. Elster (B.Sc. UMASS 1984, M.Sc./PhD, Cornell (1988/1994) is a Professor of Computer Science at the Norwegian Univ. of Science and Technology, and was a Visiting Scientist at the Univ. of Texas at Austin in 2015/16. She established the IDI/NTNU HPC-Lab, which regularly receives international visitors. A Senior Member of IEEE, she has so far supervised over 70 masters theses, currently supervising 2 Post Docs, 3 PhD students and 5 master students. She was one of 4 WG Leaders of EU COST Action IC0805 on Complex HPC and helped propose the ongoing EU COST Action IC 1305 NESUS. Dr. Elster has organized several minisymposia and international panels, and serves yearly on several Program Committees, including ACM/IEEE SC, HiPC and IEEE IPDPS. Her professional memberships include IEEE (UMASS IEEE CS President 1983/4, M 1994, SM 2000), Life Member of AGU and SIAM. She is NTNU's PI on the H2020 project CloudLightning and will be hosting a H2020 MCSA Post Doc for 2017-2019.
