Dr. Lubomir Riha

Lubomir Riha, Ph.D. is a senior researcher in the parallel algorithms research lab at IT4Innovations, VSB – Technical University od Ostrava. Previously he was a research scientist in High Performance Computing Lab at The George Washington University, ECE Department. He has received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic in 2011 and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Bowie State University, USA. He is/was co-investigator of FP7 EXA2CT and H2020 READEX projects and Intel Parallel Computing Center. He is a co-developer of the ESPRESO finite element library which includes a parallel solver scalable to tens or hundreds of thousands of cores with support for both GPU and Xeon Phi accelerators. His research interests are HPC, energy efficient computing, acceleration of scientific and engineering applications using multi- and many-core accelerators, development of scalable linear solvers, signal and image processing.
