Evangelos Georganas

Evangelos is a research scientist in the Extreme Scalability Group at Intel Labs. Before joining Intel, he was an interim Postdoctoral Fellow in the Computational Research Division at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, working on high-performance algorithms for genome and metagenome assembly. He obtained his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in Computer Science. His advisor was Prof. Katherine Yelick. He is affiliated with the Berkeley Benchmarking and Optimization group and the ClaSS Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. His research interests include High Performance Computing and scientific applications. His Ph.D. thesis was on scalable parallel algorithms for genome and metagenome analysis. He has also worked on communication-avoiding algorithms.
