Abstract:   Today’s competitive landscape requires new and innovative approaches that leverage advances in computational technology to solve old and new problems. This spans scalable and sustainable HPC facility operations and management to drive development of new algorithms, embrace new processor and system architectures, and develop new approaches to I/O that can support the increasing amounts of data being collected in seismic surveys. Attracting top computational talent to the energy exploration industry is increasingly a challenge, competing with the lure of “Silicon Valley.” Partnership that focuses not only on research and technology but that extends to workforce development is increasingly critical as we embark on solving tomorrow’s problems.
