Abstract:   The SKA radio astronomy project, when in full operation in 2024 , will process 14 Exabyte of data each day and is a exceeding any big data metric. ASTRON and IBM started the DOME project to solve the challenges to process, transport and store the SKA data. I will describe SKA, the key requirements and main outcomes of the DOME project. DOME developed new hardware, algorithms and software thru out-of-the-box thinking.
