Abstract:
While VLSI technology continues to roughly double the number of transistors every generation, power reductions are have not been scaling down sufficiently to keep chip power from rising. Even worse, many new applications are far more demanding of memory bandwidth, causing even further challenges due to high IO power. How bad is the problem, and what can we do about it?
