Abstract:
Procuring IT infrastructures for high-performance computing and data analysis tasks can be quite complex. Many large enterprises have decades of experience in procuring and using HPC systems.
Today the usage of HPC technologies is spreading over more application fields. Therefore, many industrial companies and even SMEs need to procure new HPC resources to fulfil the computational needs of new applications.
This talk addresses important aspects that need to be considered when HPC resources shall be procured. For example, the application requirements (ISV codes, performance, throughput) need to be well defined before starting a procurement.
There are integrated turn-key solutions for HPC, reference designs that can be adapted to customer needs and very individual HPC configurations. Also the required software stack needs to be considered to achieve a well-integrated solution.
