Abstract:   This BOF, conducted by leaders of the 500+ member Intel Xeon Phi Users Group (IXPUG), seeks to build and strengthen a community among those developing HPC applications for large-scale systems incorporating Intel Xeon Phi processors and co-processors. The proposed event builds on previous successful BOFs at SC’14, SC’15, SC’16, ISC’15 and ISC’16 that have each attracted up to 150 participants. IXPUG is an independent users group for anyone with interest in application performance on the Intel Xeon Phi. See http://ixpug.org Large HPC systems based on the Xeon Phi Knight’s Landing processor have recently been installed across Europe, the US and Asia. This year’s BOF will focus on sharing experiences and gaining insights of how these systems are already being used for high-impact scientific discovery with real-world applications. A key focus will also be placed on sharing techniques for achieving performance on Intel Knights Landing systems at scale with high-end network fabrics. The BOF will start with Lightning Talks that share key insights and best practices. This will be followed by a moderated discussion among all those in attendance, which will include representatives from computer and science domains as well as from Intel and other software and tool providers. The BOF will close with an invitation to an ongoing discussion through the Intel Xeon Phi Users Group (IXPUG).

Targeted Audience
Application developers targeting Intel Xeon Phi-based supercomputers, experts in code optimization for the Xeon Phi platform, performance tools users and developers.
