Abstract:   The OpenPOWER Foundation has been established as a technology organization that enables collaboration between different technology providers resulting in new solutions for HPC. This development has gained momentum with HPC systems based on IBM POWER8+ processors with NVLink-attached NVIDIA P100 GPUs. These systems are precursors of the upcoming leadership-class CORAL systems at the HPC centers at Oak Ridge and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. Additionally, more than 80 members of the OpenPOWER Foundation are from academia, and many of them have started to exploit the capabilities of the OpenPOWER technologies. This workshop will provide a venue for HPC and extreme-scale data technology experts as well as for application developers to present results obtained on OpenPOWER technologies. The latest advances in OpenPOWER addressing challenges in system architecture, networking, memory designs, exploitation of accelerators, programming models, and porting applications are of current interest within the HPC community and this workshop. In particular, the use of the new NVLink technology is of interest. Closely related topics also include OpenACC, OpenMP, OpenSHMEM, OpenUCX, MPI, developer and performance tools, etc. for the OpenPOWER ecosystem.

Targeted Audience
The workshop will address a broader HPC community ranging from system architects to application developers, which have the ambition to either harness OpenPOWER technologies for HPC applications needs or to exploit these technologies for addressing challenges that require HPC resources.
