DescriptionLustre is one of the most widely used parallel distributed file systems in the High Performance Computing (HPC) community. Like other storage protocols, Lustre benefits from the use of Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA). With RDMA-enabled adapters, all packet and protocol processing required for communication is handled in hardware by the NIC to achieve high performance. EXTOLL's network technology based on the innovative TOURMALET ASIC provides such an RDMA-capable NIC that offers outstanding performance for HPC workloads. This talk provides a short overview of the EXTOLL network technology followed by a detailed introduction of the EXTOLL Lustre Network Driver (EXLND) and a Lustre RDMA performance evaluation over EXTOLL. Experience and performance data from a real world installation will be presented.
