DescriptionThe National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has a strong private sector program, called NCSA Industry, which has worked with more than one-third of the Fortune 50 companies, in sectors including manufacturing, oil and gas, finance, retail/wholesale, bio/medical, life sciences, agriculture, technology, and more. NCSA’s Industry Program currently includes 35 industrial partners and is the largest industrial HPC outreach program in the world.
After providing an overview of our program, services and challenges, a few examples of computational breakthroughs will be given where the NCSA Industry has for the first time demonstrated on Blue Waters the feasibility of efficiently solving extreme-size real-world multi-physics or geophysics problems on the petascale and potentially exascale level.
