DescriptionSocial media gains great prosperity in the last decade, facilitating users to create, share, and propagate information or ideas. Social media records users’ profiles and opinions, social relationship among users, and information cascades, allowing us to study human dynamics with an unprecedented breadth, depth and scale. Meanwhile, social media poses severe security issues, e.g., privacy issues, misinformation issues, and social engineering attacks. In this talk, the speaker will introduce some security issues associated with social media. Next, the speaker will talk about some research progress in rumor detection in social media, anomaly detection in social media, and user identity recognition. These studies could help us understand the potential security issues suffered from social media. Furthermore, the speaker will also talk about the challenge and practice of avoiding these security issues.
