Tom Scogland is a computer scientist in the Center for Applied Scientific Computing at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the High Performance Computing group, and the Advanced Architecture and Portability Specialists (AAPS) team. His primary research centers around the design and development of runtime systems and programming models for scientific applications dealing with heterogeneous and many-core architectures as well as heterogeneous memory systems. He is an active developer on the RAJA library as well as member of the OpenMP accelerator subcommittee. In addition, Tom investigates distributed resource management for large-scale systems with the flux project, energy-efficient computing techniques and architectures as a technical lead on the Green500 list, and concurrency primitives and data structures for many-core computing. Tom holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Purdue University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech.
