Biography
Leonel Sousa (PhD’96) is a Full Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa and a Senior Researcher of INESC-ID, Lisbon, Portugal. He has authored or co-authored more than 250 papers appearing in international journals and conferences, edited four special issues of international journals and given several keynotes and tutorials. His research interests include VLSI architectures, computer architectures, parallel computing, computer arithmetic, and multimedia systems. He created and taught several MSc and BSc courses at IST in these areas and he already graduated 15 PhD students. Prof. Sousa is a Fellow of the IET, and a Distinguished Scientist of the ACM. He served in the organization of several international conferences and he is currently an Associate Editor and Editor-in-Chief of several renown international journals. He received several awards for the quality and impact of his scientific publications (DASIP, SAMOS, UL/Santander).
