Xiaoyi Lu received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China. He is a research scientist in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ohio State University, USA. His current research interests include high performance interconnects and protocols, Big Data, Hadoop/Spark/Memcached Ecosystem, Parallel Computing Models (MPI/PGAS), Virtualization, Cloud Computing, and Deep Learning. He is currently leading the design and development for the High-Performance Big Data (HiBD) project currently being used by more than 225 organizations in 30 countries. He has published more than 80 papers in major journals and international conferences related to these research areas and is actively involved in various professional activities in academic journals and
