Biography
Dr George Orient is a lead V&V (verification and validation) analyst at Sandia National Labs, with over 30 years of computational simulation experience in the aerospace field (mechanical engineering). Experienced in a broad range of engineering tools and methods and tools including CAD mechanical design, application development, finite element modeling, operation research and V&V/UQ. Extensive experience in integrating engineering applications into resilient automated workflows. Provided practical leadership in implementing analysis and design best practices at several major aerospace organizations. In charge of the V&V/UQ and credibility processes for solid mechanics models on a major program at Sandia National Laboratories. Member of the product owner team for the Sandia Analysis Workbench. Member of the ASME V&V 10 committee (Verification and Validation in Computational Solid Mechanics) and coauthor of upcoming ASME standards documents.
