Dr. Ciorba received the Computer Engineering Diploma in 2001 from University of Oradea, Romania and the PhD in 2008 from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Between 2008-2010 she was a postdoctoral research associate at Mississippi State University, USA and between 2010-2015 a (senior) research scientist at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. Since 2015 she is an assistant professor at the University of Basel, Switzerland, where she heads the HPC research group. Her research interests include parallelization, mapping, scheduling, robustness, and scalability of scientific applications executing on small- to large-scale parallel and distributed computing systems.
