Michael Bane
Biography
Bane works in the Energy Efficient Computing research team, STFC Hartree Centre, since 2016. His recent work has supported the Innovate-UK funded TSERO and the H2020 funded Vineyard projects. Bane has research papers in the computer science and environmental fields with a PhD in Numerical Analysis. Prior to working at Hartree, Bane managed Research Applications Team at University of Manchester ensuring support of researchers in their computational and data analytic needs and personally developed their highly acclaimed research computing training. Bane has decades of experience in optimizing and parallelizing scientific codes. In an independent capacity, Bane is Chair of the “EMiT” Emerging Technology Conference organizing committee. He has supported applications and users on the (UK) national tier-1 and local tiers 2 and 3 HPC services, written courses in parallel programming and optimization methodologies, and been an invited speaker at EuroPar & SGI/Cray MPP conferences.
