Burlen Loring
Biography
Burlen is a Computer Systems Engineer IV at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. and hold a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics with thesis on numerical methods for adaptive mesh refinement in magnetohydrodynamics. Burlen has more than 14 years of professional software engineering, high performance computing, and scientific data analysis experience. His areas of expertise include numerical methods, parallel computing, vector field analysis and visualization, and astro and plasma physics visualization and analysis. I have extensive experience with key HPC technologies such as C++, Python, MPI, threads, CUDA, and GPU's. His interests include parallel scientific visualization algorithms, large data visualization, and the application of many-core technologies to scientific data analysis.
