Biography
George Biros received his BSc at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1995. He received his MSc at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA, in 1996, and was awarded his doctoral degree at the same university in 2000. After a postdoctorate at the Courant Institute in New York City from 2000-2003, he became Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003, and eventually Adjunct Associate Professor in 2008. After being Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for technology Infrastructure at Georgia Institute of Technology, he became a full professor of the University of Texas at Austin in 2011, where he is currently holding the W.A. “Tex” Moncrief Jr. Chair in Simulation-Based Engineering Sciences at the Cockrell School of Engineering. He is also director of the Parallel Algorithms for Data Analysis and Simulation (PADAS) group at the Institute of Computational Engineering and Sciences.
