Charlene Yang
Biography
Dr. Charlene Yang is an application performance specialist at the National Energy Research Scientific Computing center (NERSC), Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. Her work is focused on performance characterization, performance optimization, and performance portability. She works with code teams in the NERSC Exascale Science Application Program (NESAP), helps identify the performance bottlenecks and advices on code optimization strategies, in order to ensure these codes transition smoothly from multi-core systems to the many-core system Cori KNL, and that they’re ready for future architectures such as the GPU-accelerated NERSC-9 Perlmutter system. She is an advocate of the Roofline Performance Model, has been actively involved in the development of this model, and has published papers and given talks/tutorials at various HPC forums such as SC and ISC. She also organizes and participates in user training/hack-a-thons to raise the application readiness of the greater NERSC user community.
