Biography
Dr. Wolfgang Ziegler is a member of the scientific staff of the Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing (SCAI) since 1987. He joined the department of bioinformatics in 2005 as head of Grid and Cloud Middleware Research Group. His research areas are Cloud Computing, resource management and scheduling, data protection, data security, and electronic Service Level
Agreements. He has been active in the Open Grid Forum since 1999 and has co-chaired several
working groups of the Open Grid Forum. He serves as Area Director for Applications and as Vice President of Community. He is co-chairing the Grid Resource Allocation Agreement Protocol Working Group (GRAAP-WG), which has developed WS-Agreement, the recommendation of the OGF for creating agreements between a resource/service provider and a consumer, and WS-Agreement Negotiation
the proposed recommendation of the OGF for a protocol to negotiate agreements.
2013-2016, was involved in the two Cloud Standards Coordination (CSC)
collaborative activities between the European Commission and ETSI.
Since 2018 he is a member of the EU project StandICT.eu which supports
participation of European experts in international standardisationi in the
five priority domains (Cloud, IoT, Big Data, 5G Cyber Security) and AI.
His focus is on Cloud Computing and AI.
