Paul Carpenter
Biography
Paul Carpenter is Senior Researcher at BSC. He graduated in mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 1997 and received his PhD in computer architecture from the Technical University of Catalonia in 2011. Prior to starting his PhD, he was Senior Software Engineer at ARM in Cambridge, and as independent consultant he was part of the small research team that designed the ARM Advanced SIMD / NEON vector ISA. He holds three patents. He is co-chair of ETP4HPC’s Working Group on Programming Environment, Principal Investigator at BSC for the EUROSERVER, ExaNoDe and EuroEXA projects, and (co-)director of 7 PhD students (2 graduated). His research interests include, especially, HPC and server system architecture and virtual machine resource sharing and parallel programming models.
