Biography
Dr Yuedong Yang is a professor in the School of Data and Computer Science, Sun yat-sen University, China. Dr Yang received his PhD degree in the computational biology from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2006. After his graduation, he joined the Indiana University (IUPUI), USA first as a postdoc, and later promoted to Research Assistant Professor in 2011. In 2013, he moved to Griffith University as a research fellow for developing translational medicine. Dr Yang has published >80 publications in high-profile SCI journals that have been cited >2500 times. Two articles were selected as ESI highly cited article. Moreover, he has developed >10 widely used bioinformatics software, among which the SPARKS-X for protein 3D structure prediction has been commercially licensed to the Monsanto company. His current research interests focus on utilizing AI techniques to analyze multimodal biomedical big data, including multi-omics data, EMR, medical image. Dr Yang is also an associate editor for journal BMC Bioinformatics.
