Biography
My name is Afrah Khairallah from Sudan. I obtained a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics from Rhodes University, B.Sc. (Honours) in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and B.Sc. in Biotechnology from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. I am also a fellow member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World. Throughout my study years, I volunteered as a tutor, student assistants and worked for student organizations with leadership roles including member of the student parliament and the student representative council. I’m hardworking, ambitious, a great team play and proactive individual. Currently, I’m doing my PhD in Structural Bioinformatics at Rhodes University’s Research Unit in Bioinformatics. My research involves the application of computational tools and high-performance computing for drug discovery, under the supervision of Prof. Özlem Tastan Bishop. My research aims to identify new drug targets and drugs for the treatment of malarial disease.
