Biography
Dr. Kai Himstedt joined the PeCoH (Performance Conscious HPC) project of the German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) and the University of Hamburg in March 2017 (postdoc position). After several years of working in the field of industrial software development he changed to the University of Hamburg in 2002, where he has developed complex simulation systems to describe the processes at Hamburg Airport in cooperation with the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) for the cluster of excellence project “Efficient Airport 2030”. After that he worked as an IT project manager at the Hamburg University of Technology. Since 2012, he has also been working in the field of simulation-based optimization on HPC systems. In his spare time he is dedicated to provide the computer chess community in the field of parallel game-tree search.
