ISC 2019 KICKS OFF WITH FIVE DAYS OF NON-STOP HPC

FRANKFURT, Germany, June 16, 2019 – 3,345 high performance computing practitioners and enthusiasts from over 50 countries have made their way into Frankfurt, Germany as of Sunday, to attend the 2019 ISC High Performance conference and exhibition. A total of over 3,500 attendees are expected at this year’s show. Now in its 34th year, this mid-year event is Europe’s largest HPC forum and prides itself on the international scope and diversity of its attendees.

Today, June 16, was devoted to tutorial sessions, followed by the main program, which runs from Monday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 19. The event wraps up on Thursday, June 20, with a full day of workshops. The organizers have lined up a program covering the entire spectrum of high performance computing topics, encompassing servers, networking, storage, software tools, and applications. The two special-focus tracks, the Industrial Day and the Machine Learning Day, return once again this year with all new sessions for practitioners and researchers engaged in those application areas.

The accompanying exhibition will display product demonstrations and research projects from 165 key vendors, research centers and universities in the HPC space.

The Opening Session

The conference will be officially opened at 9:00 am on Monday, June 17, by conference general co-chairs, Martin Meuer and Thomas Meuer, followed by the conference keynote at 9:30 am. This year’s address will be delivered by by Ivo Sbalzarini, the Chair of Scientific Computing for Systems Biology on the faculty of computer science of TU Dresden, and Senior Research Group Leader with the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden. He will be discussing the growing intersection between HPC and systems biology.

Another high point on Monday is the announcement of the 53rd TOP500 list at 11:00 am. Project co-founder Erich Strohmaier will present the highlights of the new rankings and discuss the latest trends.

The check-in and self-registration counters at the Messe opened Sunday, June 16 at 7:30 am and will stay open until Wednesday, 4:00 pm.
