Reinventing HPC

ISC 2022 RESEARCH PAPERS, WORKSHOPS, TUTORIALS AND STUDENT CLUSTER COMPETITION OPEN FOR SUBMISSION

Hamburg, Germany, October 18, 2021 – The ISC High Performance conference series is actively accepting research papers, workshop and tutorial proposals from practitioners of high performance computing, machine learning and high performance data analytics. The ISC Student Cluster Competition is also currently open for proposals.

ISC 2022 will be held from May 29 to June 2 in Hamburg, Germany, and is our first on-site conference and exhibition since the pandemic. Some of the program elements will be offered digitally, however submission is encouraged from people who plan to attend the event in person. We would like to emphasize that having presenters and attendees under one roof contributes to productive exchange.

As organizers, ISC Group will ensure strict compliance with all the safety and health measures prescribed by the Federal Ministry of Health and the local authority of Hamburg.

The ISC Research Papers

The ISC research paper sessions are designed to provide unique opportunities for engineers and scientists in the field to discuss issues that will shape the future of HPC, networking, storage, machine learning and high performance data analytics.

The ISC 2022 research paper topics are divided into five main areas: Architectures, Networks, & Storage, HPC Algorithms & Applications, Programming Environments & Systems Software, Machine Learning, AI, & Emerging Technologies and Performance Modeling, Evaluation, & Analysis. The subcategories of each area are listed on the website.

Submitted research papers will be peer-reviewed by the ISC 2022 Research Papers Committee for originality in theoretical, experimental, and industrial R&D. The 2022 committee is headed by Ana Lucia Varbanescu of the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, with Abhinav Bhatele, from the University of Maryland, USA, as the deputy.

The most outstanding research paper authors will be announced at the conference and will receive the Hans Meuer Award, which includes a cash prize of 3,000 euros.

The ISC Workshops

ISC is now accepting proposals for full and half-day workshops. The goal of the workshops is to provide participants with a convenient platform for presentations and discussions, in a particular subject area.

Two types of workshops will be hosted next year: (1) workshops that want to disseminate their own call for papers and implement a peer-review process (accepted papers will be published in post-conference proceedings); and (2) workshops without a call for papers and without proceedings. Please note there are different deadlines for the two workshop types.

Submitted workshop proposals will be reviewed by the ISC 2022 Workshops Committee, which is headed by Hartwig Anzt from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, with Amanda Bienz of the University of New Mexico, USA, as Deputy Chair.

The ISC Tutorials

Offered as full and half-day tutorials, these are interactive courses on key topics in high performance computing, networking, storage, and data science. Renowned experts in their respective fields will give comprehensive introduction to the topics as well as provide closer look at specific problems. Tutorial presenters are encouraged to include “hands-on” components to allow attendees to practice the prepared materials.

Tutorials submissions are encouraged in any area of interested listed in the call for research papers; topics that expand broader community engagement, for example, large systems administration; innovative and emerging HPC technologies, such as cloud technologies for HPC, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning; and introductory courses for attendees new to HPC.

Submitted tutorial proposals will be reviewed by the ISC 2022 Tutorials Committee, which is headed by Kathryn Mohror of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA, with Suren Byna, also from Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, as the deputy.

The ISC Student Cluster Competition

Now in its 11th year, this competition will be held in Hamburg, for the regional teams, and virtually, for the international teams. To find out more about the submission guidelines, competition rules and competition timeline, visit the competition website.
